When you are not feeling so well because you are in the grips of a cold, this hot juice is just the thing to bring you some comfort. I really like this “remedy”, as it is full of goodness that helps your immune system.
This recipe is really easy, using just a few ingredients: apple, ginger, lemon, honey and cinnamon.
The healing ingredients
The first ingredient is ginger. I am using fresh ginger root in my juices, as I feel it gives me the best access to the benefits that ginger offers. Ginger is well-known for its health benefits. The bioactive compound that is so great is called gingerol, which has a very long history of use in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine.
Ginger is not only great to help with nausea, it is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
The second ingredient in this remedy is raw honey. I prefer to use raw honey because it has not been heat-treated or pasteurized. If you can, try to get raw honey from local bee farmers in your area. Honey from local flowers will also help your immune system to build resistance against local pollen, so if you struggle with hayfever, local raw honey is the best option.
Lemon is a citrus fruit, providing a dose of vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to protect you against the damage of free radicals.
Add a dash of cinnamon rounds off this juice, also giving it a dose of health benefits. Cinnamon is a spice that is made from the inner bark of trees scientifically known as Cinnamomum, and is also an antioxidant and is an anti-inflammatory.
Hot Cold Buster
- Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer EVO820
- 1 medium apple
- 2-3 cm fresh ginger
- 1/4 lemon rind removed if not organic
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- In your Kuvings Juicer, juice the apple, lemonand ginger.
- Fill a cup up to half with hot water. Stir in a teaspoon of honey.
- Add the juice, sprinkle the cinnamon on.
- Stir and enjoy!
